James spent his childhood with Rotherham United’s Academy before signing for Stalybridge Celtic and more recently Harrogate Town.

He was selected for the Rotherham United Academy at 6 years old and progressed through every age group before signing apprentice forms at 16 years old. He played at the reserve team level before he achieved his dream of playing for the first team.

When his contract expired he went on to join Stalybridge Celtic. It was at Stalybridge where he scored his first career goals and became a popular player amongst the supporters.

The centre midfielder went on to sign for Harrogate Town where a broken metatarsal has interrupted his progress.
