Ryan progressed through the Hull City Academy before signing as a professional with his boyhood club.

Ryan began his career at Hull City at 9 years old and worked his way through the Academy before signing as an apprentice at 16 years old. He signed professional forms 2 years later and was captain of the reserve team.

Ryan was sent on loan to Harrogate Town to gain experience and after a successful loan spell he signed on a permanent basis in 2015. Injury disrupted his time at Harrogate and he joined North Ferriby at the beginning of the 2016-17 season.

At the age of 18 Ryan completed his level 2 coaching qualification with the aim to progress through his badges. Ryan is working through his Youth Modules and plans to complete his UEFA B licence in the near future.
